Moving into the holiday season, our thoughts naturally turn to the friends and family we're so grateful to have in our lives. Seeing those people may feel extra special if, after a Zoom Thanksgiving in 2020, you're finally going to be able to share your dinner table with loved ones this week.
Of course, there's nothing more important to me than the people I'll be eating turkey and pumpkin pie with on Thursday. But, as the founder and CEO of Keen Wealth Advisors, I often reflect this time of year on just how grateful I am for the clients who have given us the privilege of managing their financial plans and for our team members that make it all possible.
In my book, Keen on Retirement: Engineering The Second Half Of Your Life, I write about some of the tough times my father and I had when I was growing up in a tiny apartment in Kansas City, waiting for his unemployment check to arrive every month. Many of our clients have shared similar stories with us over the years, and when you've lived through those kinds of experiences, you never take success or financial security for granted. That's why showing gratitude and giving back to our community has always been so important to me.
Both my family and Keen Wealth Advisors are so proud to support the Veterans Community Project’s Veterans Navigation Campus, which reaches out to our heroes in need and helps them find work, shelter, and medical care.
I also continue to be amazed by my friends at Angel Flight Central, an organization that provides free medical transportation for families who can't fly commercial. Earlier this month, Keen Wealth sponsored Angel Flight's annual Wine Flight Event at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center. It really meant a lot that folks from the Keen Wealth team were on hand to help put some much-needed fuel in the tank of this invaluable non-profit.
And I'm still so enthusiastic about the free educational content that we provide at Keen on Retirement. I've talked to folks in financial services who are surprised that my team and I put so much effort into weekly blogs and podcasts, webinars, and in-person events. But to me, providing folks with information and literacy that will hopefully point them in the right direction as they're navigating complex money and life decisions is just another way of paying it forward.
I sincerely hope that everyone in the Keen Wealth family and audience enjoys a safe and happy Thanksgiving. I'm so grateful for the trust and commitment that our clients demonstrate as we work together to build a better financial future for their families. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if we can be of any help during the holiday season as you wrap up 2021 and prepare for a successful 2022.
